Surprise!

Yesterday the Green Darner hatched; too bad I wasn’t here at school. In North America, Green Darners are among the biggest dragonflies. Green Darners can eat animals or insects bigger than its own size like humming bird! Heres a fact about its name! Green Darners were named like that because of their long slender bodies resembles darning needles. Green Darners were also once called “mule killer” or “snake doctors”. Green Darners can eat mosquitoes, midges, caddis flies, wasps, butterflies, bees, and other dragonflies. Green Darners are one of the fastest dragonflies. Guess What!? In the late Summer Green Darners migrate south and in huge numbers! Heres a surprising fact! Green Darners can mate in the air, on the ground, or hanging from a branch of a bush or tree. Well those were some facts about Green Darners but I still hope you enjoyed!

This pictures is showing the mouth of a baby Green Darner (I think).

The Chrysalides Carnival

The caterpillar today was in a chrysalis that mean inside the chrysalis the caterpillar is changing into a Monarch Butterfly. I believe that the chrysalis will emerge in about a week or in 4 days. It will be very fun, exciting, and interesting to see all the chrysalides emerge at the same time. I hope our (class) chrysalides get to Mexico safe for the winter migration.
